Our Services
We tailor our services accordingly to your needs
Abdominal Ultrasound
A non-invasive and efficient way to examine the abdominal organs. The images reveal details like the architecture and echogenicity which give us a clear insight into disease processes and help the clinician to reach a sound diagnosis. We examine all organs to make sure there is no hidden pathology, and we scan the entire abdomen as we believe that partial exams are a risky practice. Our extensive experience has proven the value of this approach time and again. We take images of all organs not obscured by gas, including the urinary bladder, kidneys, adrenal glands, spleen, liver, gallbladder and biliary system, stomach, small and large intestines, lymph nodes, and the reproductive tract when present.
Echocardiography & ECG
A non-invasive technique to evaluate the anatomy and function of the heart. With Echocardiography, we can assess chamber sizes, wall thickness, myocardial contractility, the valvular motion and diagnose insufficiencies of these and diagnose congenital defects. We use B-mode, M-mode, colour flow, pulse wave and continuous wave Doppler. We have the support of internal medicine consultants and specialists to obtain further information on these cases when required. In addition to the echocardiogram, we offer electrocardiogram (ECG). By incorporating ECG with echocardiograms, we can provide a more comprehensive assessment of your patients cardiac health. This diagnostic technique allows us to detect subtle abnormalities in your patients heart function, leading to more accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment plans and is highly recommended on patients with audible arrythmias.
Neck Ultrasound
The ventral cervical region is anatomically complex. We performed neck ultrasound to evaluate the gross anatomy of the neck but also small structures like thyroid and parathyroid glands. The animal is positioned in dorsal recumbency with the hair in the area of interest clipped. Most animals do not tolerate this scanning position for long, and most animals will need to be sedated or anaesthetized for this scan to allow the neck tobe positioned properly for optimal scanning technique.
Thoracic Ultrasound
Using ultrasound to image the thorax gives the clinician several advantages over using traditional radiographic imaging. Lung consolidation, lung tumours or mediastinal tumours can be assessed. Ultrasound examination of the pleural cavity is also more sensitive in differentiating pleural fluid from pleural thickening or pleural masses. Determining the location of the pleural fluid increases the likelihood of a successful thoracocentesis and reduces the risk of pneumothorax.
Guided Centesis and Sampling
We perform fine needle aspirates, true-cut biopsies, cystocentesis, thoracocentesis, abdominocentesis, cystocentesis, and chole cystocentesis.
Pregnancy Ultrasound
Ultrasound can assist to diagnose pregnancy, determine gestational age and estimated time to parturition. We can count the number of foetuses, however, when there are more than 4 ultrasound is not as accurate and in these cases, we give an approximate number.
Ocular Ultrasound
There are 3 primary methods for imaging the globe, directly on the cornea, through the eyelid, or imaging through a water bath over the globe. We tend to image through the eyelid most of the time as we feel patients tolerate it better. The examination is generally performed with the dogs awake. Mild sedation may be required if manual restraining is inadequate to securely position the animal. A topical anaesthetic drop is applied to the cornea 2-5 mins prior to the examination.
Telemedicine
(Ultrasound interpretation)
Have you perform and ultrasound but you need interpretation of your images? We can help you assess those images for interpretation. Contact us to know more about it.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
Musculoskeletal ultrasound is useful to assess most of the joints, muscles and tendons in the extremities like shoulders and stifles. Scanning this areas can be useful to detect joint effusion, tendon inflammation or rupture for example. Comparison with the contralateral limb is essential during this exam.
