The ventral cervical region is anatomically complex. We performed neck ultrasound to evaluate the gross anatomy of the neck but also small structures like thyroid and parathyroid glands. The animal is positioned in dorsal recumbency with the hair in the area of interest clipped. Most animals do not tolerate this scanning position for long, and most animals will need to be sedated or anaesthetized for this scan to allow the neck to be positioned properly for optimal scanning technique.
